Technically, the answer is maybe. VoicePulse does not implement any network configurations that would interfere with faxing. While many customers have successfully used VoicePulse for faxing, we do not recommend it if faxing is vital to your business or organization. VoIP lines are not optimized for faxing because the technology behind it is meant to be delivered over analog lines. Fax performance also greatly relies on the quality of your internet connection. Packet loss, high latency, and jitter are just a few of the issues that will affect faxing. We can not guarantee a satisfactory level of quality and service for these reasons. These limitations are common to all VoIP service providers.
We recommend using a Hosted Fax service where faxes are sent and received primarily through email. We offer a Hosted Fax service via our VoicePulse for Business platform. Click here for more information.
For customers who need to use a fax machine, we recommend obtaining a traditional landline (also referred to as POTS) from their local phone company and dedicating that line to a fax machine.
If you want to use a fax machine with VoicePulse FIVE, you should use the G.711 codec. FIVE does not support the T.38 codec that is often recommended for faxing, however VoicePulse for Business does offer T.38 support. Click here for information on VoicePulse for Business.
